Your best social media content does not always have to come from your own camera. Sometimes, a customer shares a photo of your product, a fellow fabricator posts a picture from a collaboration, or an event organizer tags your business in a great shot. Instagram has introduced a feature that can help you put some of those moments front and center.
Announced on September 10, 2026, Instagram’s Add to Grid feature lets you display selected posts you have been tagged in directly on your main profile grid, rather than leaving them only in the separate Tagged tab. You can access the option from the tagged post, its direct message notification, or the Tagged tab. The post displays a tag indicator so visitors can distinguish it from content you published yourself. The feature is rolling out across accounts, although availability may vary. Read the coverage from Social Media Today or TechCrunch for more details.
What This Means for Your Business
This feature gives businesses another way to highlight genuine customer experiences and professional relationships. A fabricator might add a tagged photo of a finished installation. A maker could showcase a customer's photo of a purchased piece in its new home. A small business attending a trade show might feature a tagged post from an industry partner.
However, Add to Grid is not the same as an Instagram Collab post. A Collab is arranged with another account so the published post can be shared across participating profiles. Add to Grid lets you select an existing post in which you have been tagged. The original post remains under its creator's control, and its engagement stays with that post.
Be selective. Only feature posts that represent your business well, and check the caption and context before adding them. Visibility can also depend on the privacy settings of both your account and the original poster's account. A post appearing on your grid does not mean every visitor will necessarily be able to see it. Engadget’s feature coverage
Today's 5-Minute Task
Improve your Instagram profile.
Open your Instagram business profile.
Visit the Tagged tab and review recent posts.
Look for one high-quality post that shows your work, a satisfied customer, or a worthwhile business relationship.
If the Add to Grid option is available, review the original caption and post, then add it if it fits your brand.
If you do not have a suitable tagged post, make a note to ask a happy customer or business partner to tag your account when they share a genuine experience. Do not pressure anyone to post or manufacture a testimonial.
