〽️Meta’s New Muse AI Is More Than a Chatbot
Meta introduced Muse earlier this month as a personal AI agent that can take on tasks and projects rather than simply respond to prompts. Meta says Muse can work through a dedicated virtual computer, use a browser, continue working after you close the app, and return when it needs your approval. It can handle things such as research, planning, email, shopping, and other multi step tasks. Meta has also continued expanding Muse since its launch, announcing additional connectors, a dedicated email address for Muse, and plans to bring Muse to its AI glasses. About Facebook
For a welding business, the interesting part is the shift from asking AI to do something for you instead of simply asking it a question. Imagine being able to tell an AI agent to research three content ideas for your welding business, organize the information, create a plan, and remind you to review it. That is very different from saying, “Write me a Facebook post.” However, this is also where businesses need to slow down. An AI agent with access to email, files, websites, or business accounts can potentially perform real actions, so permissions and security matter. Meta says users control which services Muse can access and that sensitive actions can require approval. Recent security reporting has also shown why businesses should treat agentic AI carefully rather than giving it unrestricted access simply because it is convenient. The Verge
What this means for your business
Start thinking about tasks, not prompts. Make a list of the repetitive jobs you do every week for your business, such as researching content ideas, organizing information, preparing social media plans, or tracking follow ups. Those are the types of jobs that could eventually benefit from an AI agent. Just do not give an AI access to important business accounts or sensitive information until you understand exactly what permissions it has and what actions it can take.

Since Muse is being promoted directly through Meta’s ecosystem, we will be watching closely to see how these AI tools eventually interact with the social platforms businesses already use.

AI is moving into an interesting new phase. The question is becoming less about whether AI can write something for you and more about whether it can actually take work off your plate. Slag Tag Media+ will continue following that transition with a focus on what it can realistically mean for people running businesses in the trades.
