Welcome to this week's Slag Tag Media Weekly Wrap-Up. Social media platforms continue changing how businesses reach people, measure results, and manage their online presence. This week brought three developments worth understanding, especially if you use social media to attract customers rather than simply collect followers.
Three Social Media Developments Worth Knowing
1. LinkedIn Is Giving Creators Better Post Analytics
LinkedIn is rolling out a new Post Performance Table that brings the performance of multiple posts into one view. Instead of opening each post individually, creators can compare impressions, views, watch time, followers gained, reactions, comments, reposts, saves, and sends.
The update also adds more detail about who followed you from a particular post and separates views from people within your network from views outside your network. The rollout is beginning on desktop, with mobile access expected to follow.
What this means: This is a useful reminder that impressions and likes don't tell the whole story. A post that gets shared, saved, or brings in a new follower may be more valuable than one that simply receives a lot of quick reactions.
If you use LinkedIn for business, start looking beyond total views. Pay attention to which topics attract the right audience, encourage people to share your information, and generate meaningful connections.

2. Reddit Is Testing Ads Inside Search Results
Reddit announced on November 3 that it is testing advertisements directly within its search results. The initial test is limited to a select group of eligible advertisers.
The idea is straightforward: when someone searches Reddit for something specific, relevant ads may appear alongside the results. A person searching for an espresso station, for example, might see advertisements for espresso machines, coffee beans, or mugs.
What this means: Social media advertising is increasingly about reaching people when they are actively looking for information, products, or recommendations. This is different from simply putting an advertisement in front of someone while they scroll.
For small businesses, it reinforces the importance of understanding search intent. Think about the questions customers ask before buying your product or hiring your service. Your content should help answer those questions, even when someone hasn't heard of your business yet.
Reddit's search advertising is still a test. There is no confirmed general availability for all advertisers.

3. Meta Pauses Its Controversial Business Terms Update
Meta has paused its proposed updates to several business terms after publishers, industry groups, and other organizations raised concerns about language that could permit automated crawling of websites associated with business accounts.
The proposed changes had already been delayed once, with November 20 set as the revised effective date. On November 5, Meta confirmed that the changes were paused and would not take effect on November 20. The company said it would continue consulting with stakeholders. Its existing terms remain in effect for now.
What this means: Business owners should remember that their social media presence is connected to more than posts and followers. Platform agreements, privacy settings, website information, and the way business data is handled all matter.
You don't need to become a legal expert, but you should pay attention when a platform announces changes to its business terms. Don't assume that a proposed policy is already active, and don't rely on headlines alone. Check the actual platform announcement and effective date.

One Trend to Watch Next Week
Social platforms are becoming more useful as search and discovery tools.
Reddit is testing ads in search results. LinkedIn is giving creators more detailed information about how posts reach people beyond their existing connections. Other platforms continue investing in recommendations, search, and content discovery.
The common thread is that people are using social platforms to find answers, compare options, and discover businesses.
This makes clear descriptions, useful content, searchable captions, accurate profiles, and real customer experiences increasingly important. A business should not depend entirely on followers seeing every post. It should create content that can be discovered by someone who has never encountered the brand before.
What This Means for Your Business
Take a look at your recent content and ask yourself whether it helps a potential customer find an answer.
A welding shop could explain the difference between two fabrication processes. A restaurant could show how a popular dish is prepared. A print shop could explain the difference between two printing methods. A maker could show how a product is built.
These posts do more than fill a content calendar. They give people useful information, demonstrate experience, and help establish trust before a customer ever contacts you.
Follow Friday: 1898 Leather
This week's Follow Friday recommendation is 1898 Leather, a company focused on premium welding gear.
Their products include leather welding gloves and aprons, with an emphasis on materials, construction, and durability. The company also works with professionals and the Advanced Welding Institute to gather feedback and improve its products.
Why follow them? They are a good example of a specialized business building its identity around a specific industry and audience. Their products are relevant to welders, but the broader lesson applies to any small business: show what makes your product different, demonstrate how it is made, and let the people who use it help tell the story.
I have a personal interest in quality welding gloves, and 1898 Leather is a company worth keeping an eye on.
Today's 5-Minute Task
Open up your Facebook and Instagram and make sure your profiles are up to date, you links are correct (and in the right place) your hours or location is correct and your bio reflects your business today (not when you started the pages). Also making sure you Facebook an instagram are saying the same things will help too, this can also be done across other social media platform as well. Consistency is key.
