〽️Threads Is Becoming More Independent From Instagram
Meta is rolling out changes that allow businesses to manage Threads advertising without needing a matching Instagram username. Businesses that do not have an Instagram account can also advertise directly on Threads. Meta is also introducing Threads specific permissions inside its business management tools, allowing different employees to be given access to Threads tasks without automatically giving them the same access to Instagram.
That may sound like a technical change, but it is an important signal for small businesses. Threads is increasingly being treated as its own platform rather than simply an extension of Instagram. That means businesses should not assume the same content, audience, or strategy that works on Instagram will automatically work on Threads. Threads has also been expanding its analytics, including information showing how much reach comes from followers versus people who do not follow the account.
What this means for your business
If your business is using Threads, start treating it as its own audience. Instead of automatically copying your Instagram captions, publish some posts specifically for Threads that share an opinion, answer a common customer question, explain something you learned on a job, or start a conversation with other people in your industry. Then watch whether those posts reach people outside your existing followers.

Threads is becoming interesting for a different reason than Instagram. It is increasingly becoming a place where businesses can have conversations instead of simply displaying finished work. Slag Tag Media will continue watching how that develops, because for a welding business, sometimes the best marketing starts with a useful conversation rather than an advertisement.
