〽️Instagram Is Giving Users More Control Over What They See

Instagram continues to put more control over Reels recommendations into the hands of users. Its Your Algorithm feature lets people see the topics Instagram believes they are interested in and tell the platform which subjects they want more or less of. Meta says the feature began with Reels and is designed to make recommendations more relevant as a person's interests change. Facebook

For businesses, the important takeaway is that getting in front of the right audience is increasingly about being clearly relevant, not simply posting frequently. Instagram has also said that original content is becoming a larger part of recommendations, with 75% of recommendations in the U.S. coming from original posts in Q4 2025. Facebook For a welding or trade business, that means real shop footage, project videos, demonstrations, finished work, and useful trade information are still strong raw material. The more clearly your content communicates what you do, the better chance it has of reaching people who are actually interested in that subject.

What this means for your business

Make your content easier for Instagram to understand. Instead of posting a generic photo with “Another one finished,” explain what the project is, what you built, what problem it solved, or what technique you used. Give Instagram and your audience more context about what your business actually does.

Today's 5-Minute Task

Look at your Instagram profile through a potential customer's eyes. 👀

Open your profile and look at your last nine posts. Ask yourself:

“If I knew absolutely nothing about this business, would these posts tell me what we do?”

If the answer is no, don't worry about fixing everything today. Pick one upcoming post and make it more specific about your work.

Five minutes now can make your next piece of content considerably clearer.
